Medical Licensing Examination – General (MLE-G):
A core component of TAQEEM™’s Medical Licensing Examination Program is the Medical Licensure Examination – General (MLE-G). The MLE-G will be used to evaluate the competency of physicians seeking licensure in DHCC and affiliated licensing authorities in the GCC for the general practice of medicine. The MLE-G is comparable in content, similar in format, measures the same competencies, and applies similar performance standards as the USMLE Step 3. This is the first time an examination based on the USMLE Step 3 will be used to license physicians outside the United States. The USMLE is a premier examination that is recognized internationally as the gold standard for medical licensing.
TAQEEM is offering the MLE-G in order to provide a common evaluation system and a robust, sophisticated tool to be used by licensing entities in DHCC and other affiliated licensing organizations to assess a physician’s application of medical knowledge, concepts and principles, as well as understanding of biomedical and clinical science essential to the safe and effective, unsupervised practice of general clinical medicine.
The MLE-G will be administered via Prometric’s international network of secure testing centers in Dubai and other international locations. Prometric provides computer based testing services for professional licensure, academic assessment and certification as well as for various other professional and academic needs. Prometric administers testing programs for educational institutions, corporations, professional associations, and other organizations. Results on the MLE-G will be reported to TAQEEM™, Healthcare Licensing Examination Center in DHCC, which may, upon request by an examinee, forward the results to affiliated licensing organizations in DHCC and other countries in the GCC for their use as one of the criteria for meeting licensure requirements in their jurisdictions.
Benefits of the MLE-G:
- The MLE-G offers a robust and comprehensive assessment system with flexibility of taking the examination at locations across the globe;
- Candidates who pass the MLE-G may be eligible to obtain a General Medical License in DHCC;
- Candidates who pass the MLE-G may be eligible to obtain a General Medical License through other affiliated licensing authorities in the GCC;
- TAQEEM is offering MLE-G in order to raise the quality of healthcare being delivered by physicians practicing general medicine in DHCC, the UAE and the region, by standardizing the entry of those physicians and ensuring that only qualified physicians who meet standards for the delivery of high quality general medicine are licensed to provide those services.
- Candidates who pass the MLE-G and who have satisfied all other USMLE Step 3 requirements may be eligible to seek medical licensure in the United States of America. The USMLE Composite Committee, in its sole discretion, has the authority to decide whether to authorize the release of the results and to recognize results of the MLE-G as a passing result on Step 3 of the USMLE. See the MLE-G Candidate Information Booklet for further information.
